Working for Volkswagen Group

Head of Aftersales & Customer Service - Volkswagen

I worked here initially between 1988 and 1991, before we separated into the 5 Brands. I left for personal career development, moving to work for a Fleet Management company. They had various divisions and clients including another motor manufacturer. I then moved to work for a manufacturing company which exported scientific instruments worldwide. I returned to Volkswagen Group UK in February 1998.

Why did you choose to join the VW Group?

First time around I chose it because I wanted to work for a larger organisation. Second time around I chose the Group because I wanted to develop the commercial side of the business for a company that I respected. Volkswagen Group was my ideal company.

What is your Current role and what does that involve?

I am currently Head of Customer Services and Aftersales for Volkswagen. My job is really varied, ranging from parts and retail hours sales for the UK through workshop standards to being challenged by retailers on our customer policies as we aim for the Top Five for customer service by 2012. I can be negotiating with the factory one day and dealing with an individual customer issue the next. It’s hugely rewarding and I have a great team, every bit as passionate as I am about what we are doing.

How would you describe our culture?

We are a vibrant, fast-paced organisation. We have to be flexible and adaptable, as well as pro-actively looking at how we can keep one step ahead.
